Judy Horacek’s pointy-nosed characters are taking up more space on the page and in the street. The cartoonist, writer and children’s book creator joins to talk the complexities of making art for a living, and why realising what she wanted to say was the key to creating her iconic characters.

Judy Horacek is an Australian cartoonist, artist, writer and children’s book creator. Her cartoons have appeared in The Age, The Australian and the Canberra Times, and her pointy-nosed characters can be found on fridges and toilet doors all over the world. Nine collections of Judy’s cartoons have been published, including Woman with Altitude, I am Woman Hear Me Draw, and her latest work, Random Life. Judy also creates children’s picture books – both on her own and in collaboration with writer Mem Fox.
